Service bulletin SSM71856

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

"ISSUE THE REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) ALSO KNOWN AS THE KEYLESS VEHICLE MODULE (KVM), MAY FAIL TO CORRECTLY DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE ON OCCASIONS. THIS CAN RESULT IN SDD REPORTING THAT THE RFA IS OFF BUS BY DISPLAYING A RED CROSS IN THE NETWORKS INTEGRITY SCREEN AND SDD NOT BEING ABLE TO RECOVER THE MODULE. CAUSE THIS MAY BE AS A RESULT OF LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE OR A BREAK IN CONTINUITY OF DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTION DURING THE DOWNLOAD OR A CORRUPTED SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD FILE."

Listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned: the document says which.

A recall listed here may apply to some of the same vehicles. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle.
