"SITUATION: A LOSS OF PERFORMANCE MAY BE EXPERIENCED AND/OR THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP \(MIL\) MAY BE ILLUMINATED. UPON DIAGNOSIS, THE TECHNICIAN MAY FIND ONE OR MORE MISFIRE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES \(DTC \[P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, AND/OR P1315\]\) STORED IN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECM\). THE ECM IS TO BE REPROGRAMMED IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE ENGINE AGAINST DAMAGING COMBUSTION EVENTS. CAUSE: THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY ECM SOFTWARE WHICH, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, COULD LEAD TO DAMAGING PRECOMBUSTION EVENTS THAT MAY LEAD TO POTENTIAL PISTON DAMAGE WITHIN THE ENGINE."
