Service bulletin SSM 46385

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

DURING PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI), 2017 F-SUPER DUTY VEHICLES WILL EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT AND LOW TIRE PRESSURE READOUTS IN THE MESSAGE CENTER (IF EQUIPPED) FROM THE FACTORY. WHEN INFLATING THE TIRES TO SPECIFICATION UTILIZING A DIGITAL TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE, DO NOT REFERENCE THE PRESSURE DISPLAYED IN THE MESSAGE CENTER FOR CURRENT TIRE PRESSURE. ALSO, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO TRAIN OR ACTIVATE SENSORS WITH THE SERVICE TOOL DURING PDI. TO CORRECT THE PRESSURE READOUTS AND CLEAR THE WARNING MESSAGE, DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR 2 MILES OR 2 MINUTES AT OVER 32 KPH (20 MPH) DURING THE ROAD TEST PORTION OF THE PDI WORKSHEET. IF THE TPMS LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING IS STILL PRESENT OR MESSAGE CENTER PRESSURE READOUT IS INACCURATE AFTER COMPLETING PDI, REFER TO THE ONLINE WORKSHOP MANUAL, SECTION 204-04B FOR NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS.

Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component
SSM 479922019-06-07. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) may exhibit a leak at the tire valve stem. The tire valve stem has been released as a separate service part kit. The new service part kit is available and it does not include the TPMS sensor. When replacing only the tire valve stem follow the procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-04A. For claiming, use causal part 1700 and applicable labor operations in Section 01 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
SSM 471912018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) may exhibit a leak at the tire valve stem. When making repairs to the tire valve stem, there is a service kit available that does not include the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor. When replacing the tire valve stem follow the procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-04A. For claiming, use causal part 1700 and applicable labor operations in Section 01 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 467262017-08-25. Service bulletin. During PDI, 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with tire pressure monitor system (TPMS) will exhibit an illuminated low tire pressure warning light and low tire pressure readout in the message center (if equipped) from the factory. Using a calibrated digital tire pressure gauge, adjust the tire pressure to specification and do not refer to the pressure displayed in the message center. During the PDI, the vehicle must be driven over 20 mph (32 kph) for at least 2 minutes to update the pressure displayed and turn off the tire pressure warning. It is not necessary to train or activate sensors with the service tool during PDI. If the TPMS low tire pressure warning is still present or message center pressure readout is inaccurate after completing the PDI road test, refer to the online Workshop Manual, Section 204-04B for normal diagnostics.
SSM 462492017-03-10. Service bulletin. DURING PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI), 2017 F-SUPER DUTY VEHICLES WILL EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT AND INACCURATE TIRE PRESSURE READOUTS IN MESSAGE CENTER (IF EQUIPPED). WHILE INFLATING THE TIRES TO SPECIFICATION FOR PDI, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO COMPLETE A TPMS SENSOR ACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO TURN OFF THE WARNING MESSAGE AND UPDATE THE MESSAGE SENSOR PRESSURE READOUT. TO CLEAR WARNING MESSAGE AND CORRECT PRESSURE READOUTS, DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR 2 MILES OR 2 MINUTES AT OVER 32 KPH (20 MPH) AFTER INFLATING THE TIRES DURING THE ROAD TEST PORTION OF THE PDI WORKSHEET. IF THE TPMS LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING IS STILL PRESENT OR MESSAGE CENTER PRESSURE READOUT IS INACCURATE AFTER THE REQUIRED DRIVING, REFER TO THE ONLINE WORKSHOP MANUAL, SECTION 204-04B FOR NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS.
SSM 461532017-02-09. Service bulletin. SETTING THE CORRECT TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PRE-DELIVERY PROCESS AND DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE INTERVALS. RECENT CUSTOMER CLINICS REVEALED THAT MOST EVERY VEHICLE IN THE CLINICS HAD THE TIRE PRESSURES SET INCORRECTLY. TIRE PRESSURES FROM THE FACTORY ARE NOT SET TO THE CORRECT SPECIFICATION. MAINTAINING THE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE IS KEY TO THE RIDE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE AND AFFECTS RIDE QUALITY, HANDLING, LOAD CAPACITY AND TIRE WEAR. THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE SETTINGS CAN BE FOUND ON THE TIRE INFORMATION LABEL IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR JAM. DO NOT USE THE TIRE PRESSURES LISTED ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRES. MAINTAINING THE TIRE PRESSURE IS PART OF NORMAL MAINTENANCE. IT SHOULD BE RECHECKED MONTHLY, PER THE OWNER GUIDE AND DURING THE RECOMMENDED TIRE ROTATION INTERVALS.
