| SSM 52335 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed. |
| TSB 23-2338 | 2023-11-03. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 22-2181 to update the Service Procedure and Part List. Some 2015-2017 Edge, 2016-2017 MKX, 2017 Fusion/MKZ/Continental vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. This may be due to a lack of RTV adhesion. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the valve covers and replace the factory oil pan with a press in place gasket style oil pan. |
| TSB 22-2181 | 2022-10-25. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2017 Edge, 2016-2017 MKX, 2017 Fusion/MKZ/Continental vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.0L EcoBoost engine vehicles may exhibit an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. This may be due to a lack of RTV adhesion. This article includes detailed steps to achieve proper RTV adhesion. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the oil pan. |
| TSB 22-2162 | 2022-05-12. Service bulletin. Some 2014-2017 C-MAX Energi, 2014-2020 Fusion plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), 2015-2017 MKZ/MKZ Hybrid/MKC, 2016-2017 MKX, 2016-2018 Focus battery electric vehicle (BEV) and 2017 Continental vehicles equipped with SYNC screens 8 inch or larger may be unable to complete modem authorization after 3G to 4G modem upgrade was performed. No Authorization Popup displayed on SYNC infotainment screen during the Authorization process. This may be due to the Sync Software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to toggle Valet Mode. |
| SSM 49821 | 2021-06-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 49221 | 2020-10-06. Service bulletin. When installing a replacement short block in 2015-2017 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine, the engine must be converted to use a belt driven oil pump with the following parts: left exhaust camshaft JT4Z-6250-B, left intake camshaft - JT4Z-6250-A, belt driven oil pump - KT4Z-6600-A, oil pump belt - JT4Z-6B651-A, crankshaft sprockets - FT4Z-6306-A (x2), crankshaft oil pump belt drive - JT4Z-6306-A. Follow the engine assembly procedure in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01 using these new parts without installing the chain tensioner or guides as they are not needed with the belt driven oil pump. Fill out the Authorized Modification Label (FPS-8262) with the following text: 'Engine has been modified to use a belt-driven oil pump per SSM XXXXX' and attach it to the underside of the hood. |
| SSM 49210 | 2020-10-06. Service bulletin. Some 2009-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbochargers may exhibit an oil leak from the turbocharger oil supply or return tubes, O-rings or 6.7L pedestal gasket. Although oil may collect on the turbocharger, it is very rare for a turbocharger to leak oil. To isolate the source of the leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 General Information > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Engine Oil Leaks - Fluorescent Oil Additive Method procedure. When an oil leak is present at a turbocharger oil supply or drain tube, remove the affected oil tube and inspect for damage, and replace the O-ring seals, pedestal gasket or oil tube as required. Refer to WSM, Section 303-04. For claiming, use the affected oil tube or pedestal gasket as the causal part and applicable labor operations in Sections 6 and 9 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| SSM 49122 | 2020-09-02. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2020 F-150, 2016-2018 MKX, 2019-2020 Nautilus, 2015-2020 Edge, 2017-2019 Fusion, 2017-2020 MKZ And 2017-2020 Continental vehicles equipped with a 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost engine may appear to have a low engine oil level if the proper procedures are not followed. Refer to the Owner's Manual > Maintenance > Engine oil check section. When checking the engine oil level after shutting off the engine wait at least 15 minutes prior to checking in order to allow the oil to drain back to the oil pan. The engine oil level can be checked immediately if the engine has not been started. When changing the engine oil the engine needs to be at normal operating temperature and the oil filter removed before draining the oil. Allow the oil pan to drain completely for up to 5 minutes. Check oil level after filling by following the oil level check procedure. |
| SSM 48991 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2020 F150/Edge/Fusion, 2016-2018 MKX, 2019-2020 Nautilus, and 2017-2020 Continental vehicles equipped with 2.7L EcoBoost engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and/or Engine Coolant Over Temperature warning with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0116, P0117, P0118, P0119, P0128, P0217, P0330, P1026, P1299, and/or P130D. This may be due to the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor or knock sensor wiring harness. To correct the condition, replace the 12A648 ECT sensor and 12A699 knock sensor. Do not disconnect the ECT sensor from the knock sensor harness in case parts are called back for analysis. For claiming, use causal part 12A699 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
