NEWMAR CORPORATION HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN SPECIFIC MOTORHOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS. THIS RECALL IS THE RESULT OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO NEWMAR BY DAIMLER TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA. NHTSA \#16V 280, TC\# 2016\-304 ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS, THE POWER STEERING FLUID TEMPERATURE MAY EXCEED THE HOSE MATERIAL RATING ON CERTAIN REAR ENGINE CHASSIS BUILT WITH SPECIFIC 18K AND 20K FRONT AXLES USED IN MOTORHOMES APPLICATIONS. THE FAILURE MODE ON THESE SYSTEMS MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING DURING LOW\-SPEED DRIVING CONDITIONS. SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST ON THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
