THIS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN DESCRIBES THE VERIFICATION AND RESOLUTION OF HEAVY GEAR TRAIN NOISE DUE AND/OR ENGINE OPERATING ISSUES DUE TO TWIN CYLINDER AIR COMPRESSOR MALFUNCTIONS ON SOME ENGINES INSTALLED IN NOVABUS VEHICLES. THE AIR COMPRESSOR IN THIS APPLICATION MAY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE LOADING UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS DUE TO THE OEM HYDRAULIC PUMP AND CIRCUITS, WHICH MAY LEAD TO THE DISLOCATION OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR'S FRONT BUSHING, SHEARING OF THE CAMSHAFT GEAR TIMING PIN, AND/OR CRANKSHAFT GEAR SLIP. THIS CAN CAUSE PROGRESSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
