Service bulletin TSB130055-040413

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

THIS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ADDRESSES TWO FAILURE MODES OF THERMOSTAT FAILURES THAT RESULT IN ENGINES EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE COOLING OF THE ENGINE COOLANT. THE TWO FAILURE MODES ARE THE THERMOSTAT STUCK/SEIZED IN THE OPEN POSITION AND THERMOSTAT FLANGE SEAL FAILURES; BOTH FAILURES LEAD TO EXCESSIVE COOLING BY ALLOWING FOR CONTINUOUS COOLANT FLOW TO THE RADIATOR. A NEW THERMOSTAT HAS BEEN RELEASED TO ADDRESS BOTH OF THESE FAILURE MODES.
