Service bulletin MXR-TSIB-029

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

"FOR REAR DISCHARGE MIXERS BUILT BEFORE OCTOBER 31, 2015 ON MACK CHASSIS WITH MCNEILUS COMMAND CENTER CONTROLS THAT HAD ANY OEM SERVICE COMPLETED AT A MACK DEALERSHIP, IT IS POSSIBLE THE DEALER CONNECTED INTO THE VEHICLE’S ENGINE CONTROL UNIT (VECU). ONCE THE DEALER CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE’S ENGINE CONTROL UNIT, A PARAMETER IN THE MACK SOFTWARE WAS UNKNOWINGLY CHANGED FROM A “1” TO A “0”. THIS PARAMETER CHANGE CAUSED THE REMOTE MIXER THROTTLE NOT TO WORK. IF THE REMOTE THROTTLE DOES NOT WORK, THROTTLE INCREASES FOR MIXER FUNCTIONS NEED TO BE CONTROLLED THROUGH THE CAB CONTROLS, INSTEAD OF REMOTELY. IF THE REMOTE THROTTLE DOES NOT WORK, CHASSIS VEHICLE FUNCTION IS NOT AFFECTED. THE REMOTE THROTTLE CONTROLS MIXER FUNCTIONS ONLY."
