Service bulletin FSB 215-001

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

IF AN INTAKE ROCKER FAILS ON A VEHICLE BUILT FROM APRIL 2013 TO AUGUST 2013, ALL SIX INTAKE ROCKERS MUST BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FAILED CAMSHAFT. INVESTIGATION HAS FOUND THAT POOR ADHESION OF THE PVD COATING USED ON THE ROLLER PIN WAS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THIS LEADS TO A HIGHER FRICTION SLIDING SURFACE AND THE COATING PARTICLES GETTING TRAPPED BETWEEN THE ROLLER AND PIN CAUSING THE ROLLER TO SKID OR LOCK UP.
