Service bulletin FSB 215-002

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

TIMING PLATE LEAK REPAIR. OIL LEAKS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED COMING FROM THE AREA THAT IS AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE, JUST UNDER THE LIP OF THE VALVE COVER, ON THE RIGHT SIDE (EXHAUST SIDE). IT IS TYPICALLY SEEN AS SEEPING, WEEPING, LEAKING OIL AND COULD BE BELIEVED TO BE FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET. DEEPER INVESTIGATION HAS FOUND THAT THE BOLTS (HIGHLIGHTED IN THE IMAGES BELOW) THAT FASTEN THE TIMING PLATE TO THE CYLINDER HEAD ARE COMING LOOSE, WHICH BREAKS THE SILICONE SEAL AND WILL ALLOW OIL TO START LEAKING.
