ENGINE BACKFIRE AND RELATED DRIVEABILITY ISSUES WHEN A VEHICLE IS IDENTIFIED WITH A BACKFIRE IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CHECKS BE FOLLOWED IN THE INDICATED ORDER. PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC CIRCUIT CHECK ON THE VEHICLE. VERIFY THAT THE MIL ISFUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IF THE MIL IS ILLUMINATED, RETRIEVE ANY DTCS FROM THE PCM AND FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE SECTION OF THE GM MEDIUM DUTY SERVICE MANUAL.
