Service bulletin SIL 10EP16

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Exhaust Backfill Spring Color Code The exhaust backfill spring and trim valve spring can be incorrectly mixed during assembly. If the trim valve spring is used in place of the exhaust backfill spring, exhaust backfill pressure will run high and a test reject will require a rebuild of the valve body to correct the issue. To address this misidentification problem, the exhaust backfill spring, P/N 29538831, will be color coded orange. The part number of the current exhaust backfill spring with no color, P/N 29538831, remains the same and is fully interchangeable with the new spring with the solid orange color.
