Service bulletin V571506 2041749

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Door Arrester (Door Check Rod/Door Check Strap) Noisy or Defective One or more of the following conditions are exhibited: Noise (grinding, popping, creaking, clicking, etc.) when opening or closing the door. Door binding during opening or closing operation. The condition is caused by water ingress into the door arrester that accumulates in the arrester boot and freezes during cold weather conditions. The ice built up around the door arrester slider spring prevents it from compressing during door opening and closing operation and the spring will eventually wear through the plastic slider and damage the check rod.
