Service bulletin 496
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| TSN 01-07c | 2021-05-13. Service bulletin. Beyond routing and wiring concerns, the PCC system as previously implemented suffers from two timing / reporting issues. One stems from the long boot-up time of the PCC module as compared to the CPC (a.k.a. the 6N4C timer issue), and the other stems from the potential of some PCC modules to lock-up (a.k.a. the NAND flash issue). The timer concern is considered to primarily affect EPA10 units (OBD13 already had a longer timer) and most can be resolved by simply refreshing the CPC software (even if an update is not available). The module lock-up software solution is currently being validated, so the PDC stock is not clean yet. However, lock-up is anticipated to only be present in approximately 8% of PCC modules (based on testing), so (ahead of a campaign), here are instructions on how to reactivate a system, verify proper operation, and drive service actions. |

| DT12 Trans Chafe | 2021-04-08. Service bulletin. DTNA received a field notification on multiple units regarding diagnostic fault codes that were found to be causing issues to the After Treatment Control Module (ACM). These fault codes indicated that the ACM communication message was not received by the Motor Control Module (MCM) which in certain cases, led to a 25% engine de-rate situation. Further diagnosis revealed that the DT12 wiring harness was chafing and contacting the transmission TCU case. To reduce potential chafing areas, the proposed short-term containment was to route the wiring harness using additional tie straps. This communication applies to Freightliner and Western Star vehicles built with DT12 transmissions. |

| WI21-001 | 2021-01-26. Service bulletin. Warranty Information Letter for Detroit New Service Replacement Engine SRT Update. While validating Standard Repair Times (SRTs) for Detroit's new Gen 5 engine series, DTNA discovered an error in a pre-Gen 5 SRT for the New Service Replacement Engine Program. As a result, DTNA re-studied the SRT and concluded that time for removing/re-installing multiple components (e.g., exhaust manifold/turbo, engine sensor harness, rocker arm assemblies, etc.) should not be included. |
