Service bulletin TB-27-13-01

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Tech Tips (Drive Motor Position Not Learned, Fault P0C4E): The drive motor position will need to be relearned after DTC codes have been cleared, battery has been disconnected or a recharge of the 12 volt battery has taken place. The VAS PC and ODIS programs will have the technician perform this task at the end of diagnostics and module fault code erasing. This can also be accomplished without the need for a scan tool if this recalibration procedure is followed after a battery disconnect, recharging of a low 12V battery or code clearing with a generic scan tool. This document informs how the vehicle learns the Drive Motor Position.

V011338 20348442019-04-01. Service bulletin. Technical Bulletin (Update Programming for Sporadic Misfire Faults): During normal operation of the Jetta Hybrid, the electric drive motor will be activated as a generator to charge the High Voltage Battery. Once the High Voltage battery has reached a 100% state of charge, the regenerative function will shut off and the electric drive motor load will be released. Under certain driving conditions, this release of load from the engine can result in sporadic misfire faults storing in the Engine Control Module fault memory. This software update is designed to re-program the ECM, Power Electronics Module, and/or Battery Management Control Module with new software. The re-programming itself should carry out the updates without technician intervention. Please ensure all control module software as applicable has been updated after the flash is completed. The production solution for this issue was improved software implemented into production.
