# Service bulletin TSB\-19\-12\-29

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10043506
- Published by NHTSA: 2012\-04\-07
- Manufacturer's number: TSB\-19\-12\-29

## NHTSA's summary

AUDI: EVAPORATED COOLANT SMELL IS COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT, LOSS OF COOLANT, AND WARNING LIGHT ON FOR COOLANT LEVEL. SITUATION MAY BE CAUSED BY TEE CONNECTOR HOSE LOCATED BETWEEN ALTERNATOR , COOLANT PIPE AND OIL COOLER. \*PE

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 12\-29 dated February 7, 2012. Coolant level warning light on. Coolant loss in the engine compartment. Smell of evaporated coolant from engine compartment. The possible cause is a leak on the tee connector hose located in the coolant pipe between alternator, coolant pipe, and oil cooler.
- [A801406 2033806\-](/bulletins/10122297.md), 2017-11-08, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 80 number 13\-05 dated September 11, 2013. Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. Climate system heating performance is insufficient. Coolant level warning is on. Engine temperature is elevated. "Limp Home" mode is active. Faults are stored in the transmission control module \(address word 02\). Coolant loss is found from one or more control valves: N82, N509, or N488. Coolant may have migrated into the wiring harness through the connector and into various control units. Climate system heating performance is insufficient due to coolant loss, or due to a faulty N82 control valve. Inspection of the coolant control valves N82, N509, or N488 reveals the presence of coolant inside the electrical connector as shown in the illustration. The connectors, wiring harness, and/or connected control units may have been damaged from exposure to coolant.
- [A191448 2036477\-](/bulletins/10122283.md), 2017-11-08, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. The red coolant warning light may be on. The customer may complain that there is coolant loss. There is evidence of dried coolant from two leakage holes on the drive of the coolant pump. The coolant pump is sealed with a slip ring seal to the input shaft. To prevent the seal from drying out, a minor coolant leak is necessary to keep the seal lubricated. Excess coolant from the minor leak is discharged through two leakage holes on the coolant pump. This minor leak is normal operation of the coolant pump, and it is not responsible for coolant loss. This discharged coolant may dry and encrust the coolant pump.
- [A871345 2024644\-](/bulletins/10121363.md), 2017-10-31, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13\-41 dated May 30, 2013. Moisture in the driver or front passenger foot well. Due to a faulty and/or incorrectly installed condensation drain hose, condensation from the evaporator could enter the front foot well areas through a gap between the body and the sealing surface of the drain hose.
