# Service bulletin TSB\-90\-10\-20

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10035273
- Published by NHTSA: 2011\-02\-15
- Manufacturer's number: TSB\-90\-10\-20
- Manufacturer's date: 2010\-08\-25
- NHTSA component: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM

## NHTSA's summary

AUDI: FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REFLECT FUEL TANK IS FULL. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW FULL EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS COMPLETELY FILLED. THIS MAY OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TRANSPORTED BY A VEHICLE TRANSPORT TRUCK. THE LOWERED READING IS TRIGGERED WHEN THE VEHICLES ARE LOADED ONTO VEHICLE TRANSPORT TRUCKS OR WHEN PARKING ON AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE IS TILTED, CAUSING THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR VALUE TO CHANGE WITHOUT THERE BEING A SPEED SIGNAL IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AS A RESULT, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PERCEIVES A REFUELING PROCESS. \*PE

This may clog the fuel filter or in\-tank filter, preventing the engine from operating properly. No. 2 Diesel is blended by refineries to various levels of winterization \(minimum useable temperature\) based on month, geographical location, and the 10th percentile minimum ambient air temperature for the given region. Although rare, during sudden periods of extreme low temperatures \(record lows\), fuel stations may not be adequately prepared with No. 2 Diesel fuel with sufficient winterization to resist wax formation or ?gelling?.
